A 19-year-old Muslim beauty queen made this tearful apology after she was stripped of her title for being shown in a viral video drinking alcohol in a nightclub.

Stunning Malaysian model Haneesya Hanee won the ‘Dewi Remaja 2019’ beauty pageant in the city of Shah Alam in the western Malaysian state of Selangor.

However, she was stripped of her title 72 hours later when a video was posted on Twitter that went viral with 1.5 million views.

In the footage, the beautiful 19-year-old is seen partying and drinking alcohol in a nightclub.

The scenes caused outrage in the Muslim country and Hanee was forced to make a tearful video for her 231,000 Instagram fans where she apologised for her actions.

She also asked the public to not blame her mother, saying that she was solely responsible for her actions that night.

According to local media, the pageant queen had already been slammed by netizens for having dark skin.

A social media post announcing her win was met with comments such as “why is she so dark?” and “do not think that you are beautiful just because you won, you are too dark-skinned!”

Despite the online backlash, Hanee was praised by some media commentators for not reacting and keeping her head held high.

However, the viral Twitter post of her drinking alcohol led to further criticism and ‘Dewi Remaja’ organisers reportedly stripped her of the title.
