Two sisters have been accused of murder after they were caught on this CCTV footage casually dragging a man’s corpse in a bag down a street.
The incident took place in Marilia, a municipality in the Midwestern area of the state of Sao Paulo in southern Brazil, with the sisters being arrested on Thursday, 10th November.
The victim is said to be a 60-year-old retiree named as Donizete Rosa.
The police have said that they found the corpse inside the plastic bag with signs of torture, according to local media.
Investigators are said to be confused as the corpse showed signs of advanced decomposition and the police have arrested two sisters after they were identified on the CCTV footage, which shows them dragging a large white bag down the street.
After a short while, they had been seen taking a break, before they then resume their journey, coming to a stop again a few metres further down the street as the footage ends.
The sisters, who have been named as Wania Santos Silveira, 52, and Andrea Santos Silveira de Sousa, 49, and who are reportedly from the state of Minas Gerais, have denied any wrongdoing.
They had reportedly lived with the retiree for some time, with investigators reportedly finding traces of blood in the apartment.
So far, they have not yet found a murder weapon, according to local media, but they did establish that loans were taken out in the victim’s name after his death.
The police currently believe the victim died about 10 days ago, with passers-by calling the police on Wednesday morning after the body was dumped and its smell drew attention to it.
The investigation is ongoing.
