A mutant ostrich has been born in China without any feathers and is often seen shivering in cold weather.

The featherless bird hatched at an ostrich farm near the Chinese megacity of Chongqing, and the owner has been sharing footage of it on social media to keep followers up-to-date with its development.

The owner, named as Mr Tang, said that three ostrich chicks hatched without plumage, and only one survived.

He also said that he has been working in the industry for seven years and has never come across a featherless ostrich before.

Mr Tang added that the ostrich is also seen shivering outside on cold days or when it rains.

In the first clip, the bald ostrich is seen standing in a courtyard as a pal passes by with thick plumage covering its head and body.

The second video shows the same ostrich when it was younger with a group of feathery birds.

In the third clip, Mr Tang is seen holding the ostrich by its strong legs when it was still a chick and points out to viewers that it was born without feathers.

He then places the little bird on the ground and it scampers forwards to the man’s foot and remains there a moment, resembling a defrosted plucked chicken.
