This is the moment a mum-to-be in her 37th week of pregnancy walks out of hospital to a thunderous round of applause from medical staff after beating COVID-19.

Laura Perez, 29, was filmed leaving the Hospital Virgen de las Nieves in the city of Granada in the southern Spanish region of Andalusia after beating the deadly bug, and the footage was shared on the hospital’s Twitter account where it has been widely circulated.

The video shows the moment the mum-to-be confidently strides out of the hospital as doctors and nurses give her a thunderous round of applause.

Some healthcare professionals are heard shouting: “Beautiful, champion!”

According to local media, Perez was admitted in the hospital on 19th March after suffering with breathing problems during her 37th week of pregnancy.

As the pregnant woman also suffers with asthma, she was considered a patient at high risk.

Perez told local media: “They were very good with me, I had everything and they always helped me.”

She added: “I have just left only to come back again very soon, but at least I can rest at home and I feel very good.”

The hospital wrote on Twitter: “This is a ray of sunshine that gives us the strength to defeat this pandemic. We are looking forward to seeing her again to deliver her beautiful baby into the world.”
