This young mum reportedly slashed her three-year-old daughter’s wrists, set fire to their flat and then threw the tot’s lifeless body out of a 39ft-high window.

The incident took place in the northern Serbian capital Belgrade when the 36-year-old mum, identified as Danijela Milovanovic, allegedly slashed her young daughter Teodora R’s wrists.

Reports said that she first slashed her three-year-old daughter’s wrists with a razor blade while she was sleeping before cutting her own and setting fire to the apartment.

She then reportedly threw the youngster’s lifeless body from a window before jumping herself.

The family lived on the fourth floor, about 12 metres (39 feet) from ground level.

Neighbours reportedly heard the mother shouting that ‘all women are endangered’ and that she ‘cannot take it anymore’ before commenting on men and saying that “Kosovo is Serbia” and “Kosovo is ours”.

An unnamed neighbour told local media: “I saw them. Both of them were covered in blood. The girl was showing signs of life and looked as though she was asleep. Danijela seemed to have died right away.”

Another eyewitness said: “The mother’s face will haunt me for the rest of my life. It was completely distorted and her eyes and mouth were open, blood everywhere.

“The child was lying on her side and looked as though she was sleeping. I think she showed signs of life for about 15 minutes.”

According to reports, Danijela’s husband Dejan Radojicic arrived at the scene, but needed to be hospitalised due to shock.

Local media said that the police do not have any previous complaints of domestic abuse while the mother was never registered as having mental health issues.

She worked at a nearby hospital as a pharmacist.

Meanwhile, reports said that she recently suffered a miscarriage during the sixth month of pregnancy and may have fallen into depression.

An investigation is underway.
