This is the moment a woman slaps a railway staff member across the face in front of her young son after being told her child did not qualify for free travel.

The parent named as Ms Liu reportedly boarded the high-speed train without having bought a ticket for her son, thinking he was eligible for free travel.

However, she lost her temper with the staff member who told her her son was too tall and no longer qualified.

Police at Xuzhou East Railway Station in East China’s Jiangsu Province said the incident took place last month.

The altercation happened as Ms Liu and her boy, whose age has not been reported, sat on the G7695 high-speed train bound for Jiangshan from Huaibei – cities in the two neighbouring provinces of Zhejiang and Anhui.

The police said Ms Liu “held a grudge” against the staff member after being asked to buy a ticket for her child, and later could not find her suitcase after it was moved to the vestibule due to it having been left unattended in a carriage aisle.

Video from Xuzhou East shows Ms Liu waiting on the platform as the staff member finds and hands over her luggage.

Ms Liu takes the suitcase but responds by slapping the female train employee across the face in front of the stunned son, who appears to try and stop his parent from causing further trouble.

The police said Liu was arrested the following day and detained for three days after admitting to assault.
