This is the moment a young boy playing between two supermarket doors pushes one of the glass panes which closes and traps his neck before his mum dashes over in a panic.

The accident happened a reported 10 seconds after the young child strayed away from his mum and began playing on his own in the city of Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in South China.

In footage of the incident on 9th November, the boy has squeezed himself into a narrow gap between two of the open glass doors.

He places one hand on a glass pane and pushes it shut, but the hinge narrows and closes around his neck, trapping his head outside the frame.

The accident is spotted by his mother who rushes over to steady the door and try to free the boy, but neither she nor other witnesses are able to.

The local fire service was called, with rescuers reportedly using heavy-duty hydraulic tools to prise open the metal frame.

The footage shows rescuers warping the metal door frames and creating enough space for the boy to be lifted out.

He was not seriously harmed and did not require medical treatment, reports said.
