Footage has emerged of a bungling mother-of-two who crashed into a parked car and pushed it into a hair salon before her husband pulled her from the driver’s seat.

The accident, which happened while the couple’s two school-age children were in the back seat, was captured by CCTV cameras in the city of Foshan in South China’s Guangdong Province in the evening on 31st December.

In the video, the couple’s silver saloon is seen racing across a street and crashing into the back of the parked white SUV, which is forced through the glass entrance of the hairdressers.

A pedestrian preparing to get in the saloon was also knocked to the ground in the process.

Surveillance footage inside the business shows the two vehicles slamming into the salon before unsuspecting employees and clients are pushed across the shop floor.

The couple’s two children, who are still in their school uniforms, climb out the back of the car, followed by the husband who removes his shocked spouse from the driver’s seat.

Police are investigating the incident which fortunately resulted in no serious injuries.

Mr Lao, the husband and owner of the car, told local media: “My wife was driving at the time. She can barely tell the difference between the accelerator and the clutch.

“She got in the car, started the engine, and then stepped on the accelerator pedal thinking it was the brake.

“The pedestrian who was knocked to the ground is my younger brother.

“He was preparing to get in the car. He was holding the door handle when my wife accidentally stepped on the accelerator pedal and drove off.”

Mr Lao revealed he was not driving at the time because he had had a few drinks.

His wife had not driven his manual transmission saloon many times before, he said.

It is unclear if the hair salon plan to take legal action against the couple.
