This is the moment an alleged thief reaches into a mum’s handbag and appears to snatch her wallet as she bends over to pick up produce at a market stall.

The incident, which happened in front of a small child, occurred in the city of Aktau, along the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea in Kazakhstan.

In the clip, we see the woman accompanied by a toddler bending over to pick out products from a box on the ground at a market.

In a flash, a man standing behind her with a cardboard box leans over and appears to remove her purse from her bag.

As the incident goes on, the woman seems completely unaware as to what has allegedly just happened.

According to local media reports, the incident happened on a day when the woman had received her salary and went to the market with her mother to buy autumn clothes for her children.

She told local media: “My mother and I went about her business at first, bought what was needed. While collecting packages of groceries, I lost my wallet. 

“The thieves took several minutes. I have two children – one and a half and two and a half years. I wanted to dress them, but now there’s not a penny left.”

The mother of two children said that she did not notice the alleged incident taking place.

She added: “There were three of them. While one was pulling it out, two more, apparently, were covering him and distracting us. I didn’t feel anything.”

Police are currently investigating the incident.
