The mother of the 13-year-old girl who reportedly became pregnant by a 10-year-old boy has revealed she has terminal cancer, but says she is determined to overcome it in order to be there for her pregnant daughter.

The schoolgirl mum, who lives in the Siberian closed town of Zheleznogorsk in the south-central Russian region of Krasnoyarsk Krai, attends seventh grade while the 10-year-old who is reportedly the boyfriend and father of her child is still in fourth, according to reports.

Her mother Elena who is seriously ill with cancer although she did not say what type said that she found out about the pregnancy by chance.

She said: “Initially, we thought she had food poisoning, but slowly we started to realise that whatever was happening had nothing to do with her belly. We then bought a pregnancy test and it showed up positive.”

Elena said that she never considered making her teen daughter Daria have an abortion despite her own circumstances, adding that she would be concerned that she would not be able to have children in later life, as can sometimes happen.

Elen also added that despite her terminal-stage cancer, she plans to stay around as long as possible in order to take care of the baby in the future, adding: “Now I have a reason to live.”

After the story was widely covered by the media, the young parents said that it has become difficult for them to venture out in public.

The 13-year-old mum-to-be said: “People call me a wh*re and accuse me of sleeping with everyone around.”

Meanwhile, a doctor claimed that the 10-year-old ‘father’ is too sexually immature to produce sperm and there are rumours that the pregnant teen had other lovers around the same time.

Dr Evgeny Grekov, a urology and andrology expert, said: “We rechecked the laboratory results three times so there cannot be any mistake. There cannot be sperm cells. He is still a child.”

Netizen ‘Olga Zefirkina’ said: “There is no way this kid is the dad, they are covering up for an adult man here.”

‘Marina Semyonova’ commented: “I have a feeling the girl slept with someone else before, got knocked up and then other people put her together with the 10-year-old to blame him.”
