This young mum has had her baby taken away from her after posting social media snaps of the tot apparently drinking alcohol and holding a cigarette.

The baby, who lived with his mother in the district of Kartal in the north-western Turkish city of Istanbul, was reportedly taken into care by social services after the father filed a complaint.

The father, identified only as Burak B., has applied for custody at the public prosecutor’s office while an investigation has been opened against the mother, named as Figen U, according to local media.

After images of the baby apparently drinking alcohol and holding a cigarette were posted on social media, the father claimed that the suspect often gave the baby alcohol and kept him in an unhealthy environment.

Concerned for his son’s wellbeing, Burak B. wants sole custody of the baby or at least see him being cared for by the social services, according to local media.

In the complaint filed at the Istanbul Anatolian Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, Burak B. claimed that his partner only used him to have children and that she regularly sold her eggs for money.

In response, the suspect said that she legally donated eggs in Cyprus for money to pay off debts.

The investigation continues.
