This 25-year-old mother has given birth to a baby in a hospital bathroom and then allegedly tried to get rid of her newborn son by flushing him down the toilet in aq blood-splattered bathroom as seen here.

According to local media, Dilcia Maria Diaz Avila, 25, was discovered by a woman after she had given birth in a blood-splattered bathroom in Hospital Sur in the city of Choluteca in the department of the same name in southwestern Honduras.

Reports state people who were in the room next to the toilet heard a baby crying and a woman discovered the mother with her baby when she went to the toilet.

The woman who rescued the baby, Doris Gomez, told local media: “When I saw a lot of blood in the toilet I opened the door (of a cubicle) and there was a baby inside the toilet and she was flushing the toilet to drown the baby, she said the baby was not hers.”

Gomez reportedly told the medical staff at the hospital who ran to the toilet and helped the mother and the baby.

Gomez added: “She was wearing jeans and her back was full of blood. When the doctors arrived she kept saying the baby was not hers. They took her away in a wheelchair”

Both the mother and the baby were reportedly in good condition.

Local authorities are investigating the case to determine if the mother tried to kill the baby.
