The heartbroken mother of a schoolgirl in custody after allegedly stabbing her 3-year-old half-brother to death before writing a message in his blood on the wall says she forgives her.

The schoolgirl allegedly stabbed her little brother 28 times as he slept after sneaking into his bedroom when she was supposed to be looking after him. She then allegedly wrote in his blood on the wall.

The message on the wall said: “I did it because I hate him.”

Speaking for the first time in public about the incident, Polish woman Agnieszka P., 46, who is working in the German city of Detmold in North Rhine Westphalia said she was trying to remain strong for her daughter, 15, accused of killing her half-brother Niko, 3.

The family were originally from the Polish city of Lodz and had moved to Detmold in Germany in 2013 where the mother managed to get a job as a cleaner.

She has been in psychiatric care since the tragedy, but had to give it up because she had to go back to work as she did not have any money. She is still living in the flat where the boy was killed

Speaking with tears in her eyes she said: “When I saw his body in the bed I thought at 1st he was sleeping, I stroked his hair and then I realised he wasn’t sleeping. He was dead.”

Since the tragedy her only contact with her daughter has been a letter that the teenager sent. Agnieszka said: “Inside she said that she is really sorry about what happened, and asked if I was annoyed with her?”

The mother said that it was incredibly difficult to answer that and she feels without any energy and helpless. Asked if she could forgive her daughter, she said: “Yes.”

She added: “I have forgiven her. She is my child. I would never leave her alone. I love her over everything, just like my son Nikolas. I want to stand by her side and to hold her in my arms.”

As to the motive the mother said she was baffled, as the two children who both had different fathers had always had a good relationship previously. She showed photos of the two playing and grinning together.

She admitted however that the younger brother had often annoyed his older sister, and added: “I had no idea that so much hatred against him had developed inside her.”

It seems clear that the girl had felt neglected, and the mother shortly before the attack discovered that she was being mobbed at school. She said: “I had booked an appointment with a psychologist and wanted her to go there.”

Since the death, the dead boy’s father has been in touch and the mother said: “He had left me to struggle with massive debts.”

The dad is reportedly trying to organise for the body to be removed back to Poland and the mother added that nobody would tell her where the body was or what was happening.

In the meantime she has managed to move out of the flat where the murder happened. She is living back with her mother in the hope that she can regain her strength for the challenges ahead.

Police started a search immediately after the killing including a helicopter search and then later released a picture of her, resulting in her being found some 10 kilometres (6.2 miles) from the scene of the killing. A police officer arrested her, saying that she showed no sign of resistance and appeared calm.

German prosecutor’s said the trial is likely to take place in mid-April, behind closed doors because of the age of the schoolgirl.

The girl has reportedly not denied killing her brother and faces a maximum of ten years in jail because of her age.
