This is the moment a huge block of snow falls off a building roof and flattens the area where a child had been playing seconds before until his mother grabbed him and pulled him to safety just in time.
The incident was filmed in the village of Sandy Kovaly in the district of Laishevsky in the Russian republic of Tatarstan.
In the footage, the young boy is seen playing in the snow in the street as his mother, holding a baby, looks on.
A child’s scream is then heard, followed by the rumbling of snow shifting on a rooftop.
The rumbling intensifies and is followed by a loud scraping sound that startles the mother.
She grabs her son’s hand and runs to a safe distance as the huge snow mass falls.
As the snow settles, the mass is seen covering a parked car and the woman’s pram.
According to local reports, the boy was playing near his house on Oktyabrskaya Street when the block of snow fell from the roof, covering everything in the surroundings, including the mother’s pram and the parked car.
Despite holding the baby, the mother managed to grab her son’s hand and pull him to a safe distance at the moment the ‘avalanche’ hit the street.
No one was hurt in the incident.
After the footage was widely shared on social media, the Laishevsky District Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into whether the building management company, ‘Ekonomstroy Plus’, is to be held responsible.
