A young mum and her two-year-old child have been attacked in the street by three pit bull dogs and needed airlifting to hospital by helicopter for their injuries.
The dog attack occurred in the neighbourhood of Pedregal de San Nicolas in the municipality of Tlalpan in the central Mexican capital Mexico City when the young mum was on the street with her two-year-old child.
According to local media, three pit bulls attacked them and the brave mum tried to protect her toddler from the dangerous dogs.
Reports said the mother suffered injuries to her arms while the child was wounded on his neck, left shoulder and jaw.
The victims were reportedly airlifted to the Hospital Magdalena de las Salinas by helicopter from the botanical garden of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
The dogs’ owners, identified as 79-year-old Eulalio N. and 49-year-old Israel N., have been arrested, according to reports.
It is not known if the pair have been charged yet.
Meanwhile, the three pit bulls have been seized by the local authorities, although it is unclear what will happen to them next.
The investigation into the dog attack is ongoing.
