Accused Monica Nicole Figueroa, aged 43, has admitted wrapping the youngster in a blanket and repeatedly plunging the knife into him, after she was arrested on Monday, 13th March.

Her mother Mary Johnson, 64, has also been charged after apparently abandoning the boy without calling police.

Police in the city of Athens, Texas State, USA, named the victim as Grayson Hurt.

Local media reported that Johnson heard Grayson screaming and then saw her daughter hacking at a blanket with a knife on Sunday, 12th March.

But when she confronted her daughter, police say Figueroa threatened her and told her to leave.

Instead of calling police, Johnson went home and came back the following day and found her grandson’s body.

When she finally did call the police they discovered Grayson’s body partially covered with a blanket by the front door.

“The Athens Police Department also contacted the Henderson County Crimes Against Children Task Force to assist in the investigation.”
