This is the moment the reportedly drunk bodyguard of a prominent Ukrainian MP holds a knife to a waitress’ neck and makes as if to stab her before then kicking her.

The startling incident was recorded by a CCTV camera in a restaurant in the city of Poltava in eastern Ukraine when a man named as Vitaliy Vorobyov, nicknamed ‘Vorobey’ (Sparrow), who is known to work as a bodyguard for Ukrainian MP Ilya Kyva, 42, was leaving the eatery.

In the video, Vorobyov can be seen arguing with an unnamed waitress when he pulls out a knife. He then puts the blade to the woman’s neck, as another woman then grabs him to try to stop him.

He then shrugs the other woman off before lunging at the waitress with a blade, stopping just inches from her neck. He then kicks the woman as she walks away before swinging the knife in the air.

Apparently speaking of himself in the third person, the reportedly drunk bodyguard can be heard saying: “I will cut your throat. Vitaliy would be the person who’d kill you, who’d kill you for f*ck’s sake and you will no longer live. Vitaliy is the coolest guy around, he is an important person in this city.”

It is unclear why the dispute started.

He eventually leaves the restaurant and local media report he was arrested a day later. Reports state he will spend the next two months behind bars and if found guilty he could receive a prison sentence of between three and seven years in jail.

Reports state he used to work for Kyva and he could possibly still be on the politician’s security team.

There is reportedly speculation that Vorobyov is a criminal authority in Poltava and a follower of a far-right doctrine.

Last autumn Kyva, a member of the ‘Opposition Platform – For Life’ political party, was filmed watching a video of a woman thrusting her naked rear onto a man’s face at the Verkhovna Rada parliament building in Kiev.
