This is the moment a politician guzzles tequila off a half-naked woman’s navel before nuzzling her boobs and forcibly kisses her on the mouth before she pushes him away.

The incident was filmed in the north-western Mexican state of Baja California and was widely shared on social media, prompting outrage online and leading to Jesus Pereida Ruiz losing his nomination for Welfare Secretary of the city of Tecate.

In the footage, the politician is seen guzzling tequila from the young bikini-clad woman’s navel before apparently nuzzling her cleavage.

He then kisses her mouth instead of taking the lemon between her teeth and she pushes him back.

After the video was widely shared on social media and viewed 180,000 times on YouTube alone, Pereida Ruiz’s nomination for Welfare Secretary was withdrawn, according to local media.

The female politician who will take his place, Cinthia Soberanes, called her colleague’s behaviour inappropriate and he is expected to be sidelined from government roles for several years as a result of the incident.

Pereida Ruiz worked as a civil servant for the State Commission of Human Rights before launching an unsuccessful bid to become head of the body.

Instead, he was proposed as the delegate for Welfare Secretary in Tecate before his candidacy was withdrawn.

Soberanes said: “Under no circumstances is anyone going to be allowed to denigrate women.

“In our government led by (state governor) Jaime Bonilla, women have the place they deserve, with the respect, tolerance and equality that has been earned throughout history.”
