This is the moment after a hot water pipe that burst in the centre of Kiev craters in the road that swallowed passing vehicles like something from a disaster movie.

The incident was filmed on Saksaganskogo and Shota Rustaveli Streets in the northern Ukrainian capital Kiev after an underground hot water pipe burst, and the footage was widely shared on social media.

In the Hollywood-style scene, gushing hot water and steam are seen pouring out of the ruptured road as stunned onlookers film with their phones.

Meanwhile, a black car in the middle of the road is stuck in a large crater.

Reports said that two cars were affected by the burst pipe and one ended up on its roof.

Luckily, both drivers were unhurt and their vehicles have been removed from the scene.

Local media said the entire affected area was flooded with hot water, causing massive transport problems in the capital city.

A spokesperson for the Kiev City Council confirmed that an underground pipe burst and that the incident is being investigated.

A similar incident took place in Kiev one year ago and the local authorities needed several days to deal with the aftermath.

‘Polske Salo’ remarked: “At least they have hot water, there are many Ukrainian towns and cities that aren’t so lucky!”
