Mourners Pay Tribute To Deceased Goalie Pal By Kicking Penalties Against His Coffin

This is the moment a group of pals pay tribute to their deceased goalie friend by kicking penalties against his coffin between the goalposts of their football field.

Nelson Inti Castillo Segura was injured when the Yamaha YBR 125 motorbike he was riding with a woman, named as Lorena Iris Mamani, and a five-year-old boy hit a horse on 31st October.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition and later died from his injuries at the age of just 26.

The tragic news left his pals at amateur football club Club Atletico San Ramon in the small town of Amaicha del Valle in the Argentine province of Tucuman devastated.

Considered something of a leader in the group, his footie friends decided to pay tribute to him in a unique and unforgettable way at his funeral, which was reportedly attended by hundreds.

According to local media, his former teammates and other pals took his coffin and placed it between the goalposts at their ground.

One by one and dressed in their club’s colours, they then symbolically kicked a football against his coffin, thereby simulating a shootout in which he saved all the penalties.

Sports news site Bolavip Argentina posted the footage to Twitter on 5th November, and it has since racked up 148,700 views.

Netizen ‘JuanNieves007’ commented “Better than Armani”, alluding to River Plate and Argentine national team goalie Franco Armani.

In addition to being an amateur footballer, Castillo, who hailed from the rural area of Los Zazos close to Amaicha del Valle, was a qualified maths teacher.

He worked at the Instituto de Estudios Superiores Santa Maria (Santa Maria Institute of Higher Learning) in the nearby city of the same name.

It was not reported what injuries the woman and boy suffered in the motorbike accident.
