“And I am really happy and proud to know how things are going and that our special pitch is almost ready for everyone in Ub to enjoy. Bye, speak soon.”

The pitch will be used by local club FK Jedinstvo. The project surfaced reportedly after members from the club presented the idea which was inspired by the mutual respect between Mourinho and Serbian footballers.

Manchester United midfielder Matic, 31, played an important role as he was the one to contact Mourinho and present the idea to the Portuguese manager before he agreed with the idea.

The opening ceremony of the pitch is set for some time next month however the exact date is unclear. Mourinho is not expected to go to the ceremony however local media report the coach plans on visiting the pitch however it is unclear when.

Mourinho has not managed a team since he was sacked by Manchester United in December 2018.

In the months since his sacking Mourinho has been linked with big clubs in Europe such as Sporting Lisbon, Porto and Real Madrid however, he is yet to sign a contract.
