This is the moment a motorist tumbles down a ravine and into a fast moving river after completely missing a bend in the road.

According to local media, the driver died in the crash while two passengers managed to scramble free of the submerged car.

The incident took place district of Uludere in the south-eastern Turkish province of Sirnak when the driver, identified as Veysi Gok, lost control of the vehicle on a sharp bend.

In the video footage, the car is seen travelling in a straight line when the road bends sharply to the left.

The vehicle then plummets down the ravine head-first before crashing into the river and being swept along upside down.

Reports said that the driver initially went missing as the other two car occupants managed to scramble to safety.

Local residents called the emergency services and members of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) were dispatched to the scene.

Officials treated the two survivors and carried out a search for the missing driver.

Gok’s dead body was found downstream a short time later, according to local media.

The corpse was taken to a hospital morgue for an autopsy as an investigation into the cause of the crash gets underway.
