A snap shows 43-year-old Gilles Thomas Allcard William looking defeated as he squats on the ground in front of the bike with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Meanwhile, several police officers can be seen surrounding him brandishing their fists or giving the thumbs-up sign.

The suspect – a British national – was reportedly caught on CCTV mounting a customised Yamaha Scorpio parked outside a cafe in Canggu on 28th November.

Managers at cafe Deus Ex Machina also said that he had eaten there and left without paying.

North Kuta Police found William in nearby Tibubeneng around eight hours later and arrested him and recovered the motorcycle.

The bike belongs to 59-year-old Anthony James Mcinerheney of Perth, Australia, and is worth IDR 100 million (GBP 5,300), said North Kuta Police in a statement.

A police spokesperson told local media that the theft was likely not premeditated, as the suspect had found the bike with the key still in the ignition.
