A mother in Minnesota has been arrested after she allegedly beat her infant son to death and then tried to kill herself.

The woman, identified as 23-year-old Addison Perdew, was arrested and charged with murder, according to the complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court. She has been remanded in custody with bail set at USD 1 million and is not scheduled to appear in court before next month (December).

Cops from the Minneapolis Police Department had received an emergency call in the middle of last week reporting a baby who was “beat to death” at the 900 block of 22nd Avenue South in the early hours of the morning.

When the police came inside they found the accused kneeling down and being sick and it was later discovered she had swallowed a bottle of pills, although the exact nature of the tablets was not revealed.

When she was asked where her two-month-old child was, she pointed to the back of the apartment where they spotted a small leg coming from under a blanket on the bed. That was when they discovered the naked body of the boy with blood on his head and bruising all over his body. He was declared dead at the scene according to the police report.

A coroner’s report by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner confirmed that the child had died a violent death as a result of multiple blunt force trauma wounds. That included a collapsed lung, haemorrhaging of the brain and lungs and 33 fractures as well as many other injuries.

The mother claims that she had no memory of what happened but that she was the only one that was in the property at the time and therefore must have been responsible.
