A Turkish woman has been arrested for forcing her one-year-old daughter to drink bleach after having a blazing row with her partner.

The tot, identified with her initials L. Y., soon fell ill and started vomiting. Her mother realised she needed medical treatment and first took her to Bismil State Hospital.

The little girl was transferred to Diyarbakir Maternity and Child Diseases Hospital in the Turkish province of Diyarbakir on 17th March.

According to local reports, the young girl was then rushed into the intensive care unit when her condition worsened.

Meanwhile, doctors quizzed the mother, identified as N. E., over the girl’s condition and she reportedly admitted to arguing with her partner and then forcing her daughter to drink the bleach with a syringe out of anger.

The mother was then placed under arrest and gave a statement at the police station.

Meanwhile, her young daughter has been moved to a hospital ward after improving in the ICU and overcoming her life-threatening condition.

Her family members are accompanying the tot in hospital as she slowly recovers from her ordeal.

The local police and the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services have launched an investigation into the incident.

It is unclear if the girl has suffered any long-term damage from drinking the chemical product as the authorities continue to look into the incident and the family’s background.
