This is the moment a man puts a knife to the neck of a young woman he saw in a metro station in a bizarre attempt to make her go her go out ‘on a date’ with him.

The startling incident took place in the Krasnopresnenskaya metro station in the Russian capital Moscow as the 22-year-old victim was walking alone.

In the video, a man who has not been named in reports but is aged 35 can be seen with his arm around her shoulders as he pushes her in front of the camera.

He fumbles in his pocket and local media reports he then put a knife to the woman’s neck.

He can be seen with his hand to her neck as he opens a door and tries to push her inside but passers-by who had reportedly been alerted by the woman’s shouts come to the scene.

The man lets the victim go and a knife can then be seen being dropped onto the ground.

He was arrested and reportedly told investigators that the attack was his way of trying to go ‘on a date’ with the victim.

He told officers it was the first time he had tried the technique and that he did not plan to do any harm to the young woman.

A criminal case into ‘hooliganism’ was launched and the suspect faces a maximum of seven years in prison if found guilty.
