Moped Woman Wearing Sunglasses Rides Into Barrier

This CCTV footage has captured the moment a woman wearing sunglasses and no helmet rides her moped head first into a lowered barrier before falling off.

The hapless woman from the city of Guangzhou, capital of China’s southern Guangdong Province, appears to spot the boom barrier at the last but cannot stop in time.

The traffic camera video dated 6th September shows the electric moped rider without a helmet driving in a vehicle path and heading towards the boom gate where a number of other cars are also queuing.

In the footage, the woman appears to place her feet on the road in a bid to brake the moped, but she fails to stop and slams head first into the horizontal bar, which knocks her entire body backwards.

According to reports, the rider is momentarily knocked out, and she can be seen lying flat on her seat as her moped crashes and she falls off.

The woman did not appear to suffer any serious injuries as the dazed rider manages to sit up shortly after.

Social media users have suggested her vision may have been impeded by her sunglasses.

Netizen ‘ALE Li’ wrote on Weibo, China’s equivalent to Twitter: “Don’t wear sunglasses if you don’t have good vision.”

‘Charlie Yuen’ added: “You can see she’s trying to brake with her feet, but maybe she didn’t know she was supposed to let go of the throttle too?”
