A three-quarter-ton bull terrorised a soup shop when it burst in during an escape bid on its way to the slaughterhouse.

The soup shop owner’s wife later said that it “really scared her to death”.

The huge animal’s owner was leading it on a rope when it suddenly ran off, dragging him behind.

The incident took place in the city of Linyi, in the north-eastern coastal Chinese province of Shandong, on Sunday, 29th May, at approximately 2 PM.

CCTV footage of the bull’s run shows it hurtling towards a woman in the car park as she squeals in fear.

Local reports said the bull had at first been spooked when a truck sounded its horn and then tried to make a break for it.

As the bull hurtles into the restaurant, a young boy in a Nike T-shirt dodges out of the way while the owner – named only as Mr Sun – can be seen cowering behind a pillar.

The bad-tempered steer then bumps into one of the tables, kicking it out of the way angrily and trotting out of the diner.

None of the people involved were injured. The fate of the bull, which reportedly weighed over 650 kilogrammes, remains unclear but it is believed that it was eventually slaughtered.

Mr Sun said: “This animal weighed more than 650 kilogrammes. The last four of us pulled it back. Fortunately, no one was injured and there was no loss.”

His wife added: “I was really scared to death at the time.”
