An evil couple are accused of murder after their four-year-old son died in hospital from multiple injuries in America.
Deputies in Surry County, North Carolina, seized sick Joseph Paul Wilson, 41, and Jodi Ann Wilson, 38, on 13th January.
They are accused of murdering their own four-year-old son, Skyler Wilson.
Skyler was taken to hospital on 6th January suffering from injuries sustained a day earlier.
He died in hospital on 9th January.
Police did not reveal the nature of his injuries nor the suspected motive for the alleged abuse.
The parents are being held at Surry County Detention Center without bond.
They have a court hearing scheduled for 2nd February.
Authorities said other children in their custody are now with the Department of Social Services.
Surry County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: “On January 6, 2023, the Surry County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Child Protective Services regarding a four-year-old child.
“The four-year-old child, Skyler Wilson, had been transported to Brenner’s Children Hospital by Surry County Emergency Medical Services after suffering from a medical emergency on January 5, 2023.
“Skyler Wilson succumbed to injuries he sustained on January 5, 2023 and passed away on January 9, 2023.
“The Surry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division initiated an investigation into the death and have requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
“The investigation revealed that Skyler Wilson passed away from injuries related to the abuse sustained by his parents, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
“The investigation is ongoing, however, Joseph ‘Joe’ Paul Wilson (white / male, 41) and Jodi Ann Wilson (white / female, 38) of 148 Rosecrest Drive, Mount Airy, North Carolina, were arrested for the murder of Skyler Wilson on January 13, 2023.
“Joseph and Jodi Wilson are currently being held at the Surry County Detention Center under no bond.
“A court date for Joseph and Jodi Wilson was set for February 2, 2023.
“Other children within the custody of Joseph and Jodi Wilson have now been turned over to the Department of Social Services.”
Sheriff Steve C. Hiatt was quoted as saying: “This is a tragic event that resulted in the death of a precious child way too soon.
“Please remember the other siblings involved in this situation as well as the investigators who worked tirelessly on this case in your thoughts and prayers.”
Surry County Sheriff’s Office said: “This incident is still an active investigation.
“If any updates come available, the Surry County Sheriff’s Office will release the information at a later time.”
