Pregnant Sumatran Orangutan Sinta Feasting On Her Lunch With Style

This is the moment a rare and pregnant Sumatran Orangutan Sinta makes herself a sun hat out of cardboard while comfortably munching on vegetables.

The video was taken in the privately owned zoo and botanical garden Pairi Daiza, located in the municipality of Brugelette, in the Hainaut province in the south-western area of Belgium, and published on 27th October.

In the video it can be seen how Sinta is eating her lunch consisting of veggies.

She is sitting on top of logs with cardboard on her head which looks like an improvised hat. It was not revealed why she wanted to put the cardboard on her head, but online commentators speculated that she was simply copying people who were visitors.

Sinta is expected to give birth on next April, 2021, according to Mathieu Goedefroy, spokesman of Pairi Daiza In a statement sent to Clipzilla.

Poaching, deforestation and global warming have caused an 80 percent decline in the wild orangutan population over the past 75 years.

The current population of the Sumatran orangutan subspecies, is estimated at 14,000 individuals.

These births are excellent news for orangutans, whose 3 subspecies are now classified as critically endangered on the Red list of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature.
