Moment Woman Inches Across 100 Year Old Suspension Bridge After It Twists And Nearly Overturns

This is the moment a woman inches across a 100-year-old suspension bridge along with two male rescuers in China after it twisted and nearly overturned.

The incident took place in Bikou Town, which is located in Wen County, near Longnan City, in Gansu province, in north-central China, when the century-old bridge suddenly twisted while the woman, who has not been named, was crossing it on 24th October, according to local media outlet Baidu.

Two men then reportedly went onto the partially overturned bridge to rescue the woman.

The 100-year-old bridge has reportedly been damaged twice by floods since 2018 and was currently undergoing repairs. It has now been damaged a third time but fortunately the woman trapped on it was rescued without further incident.

The bridge has reportedly been repaired on numerous occasions over the years. In 2018, the suspension bridge was almost entirely rebuilt after being damaged by floods, and in 2020, it was damaged again by floods.

After that, the suspension bridge was rebuilt again, and it was only accessible in October this year. It is currently unclear why the bridge rolled over this time around, as no floods have been reported.

However, Baidu said that it was suspected that one side of the cable connecting the bridge deck and the upper steel cable was broken, causing the bridge to overturn on one side.

The cause of the incident is currently being investigated by the authorities.
