This is the moment a beautiful Turkish mother falls down an exposed elevator shaft in a supermarket and breaks her foot.

After falling four metres (13 feet), the injured woman claimed that supermarket staff took little notice of her and continued to serve customers.

Aygin Kursunoglu, 30, was shopping at an unnamed supermarket in the neighbourhood of Yalikavak in the district of Bodrum in the south-western Turkish province of Mugla when she fell down the elevator shaft on 18th July.

Several months after the incident, Aygin told the news site DHA that she was taken to hospital following the incident with several fractures to her foot.

She added: “I fell from a height of about three or four metres. There was a warehouse downstairs. They took products down using this platform, but they didn’t lift the platform up.

“There was a shaft in the middle of the supermarket. There are no security measures around it. There is no warning anywhere. I fell down the shaft, and I am very surprised at what happened.”

She added: “My foot was broken. Luckily, it could have been much worse. I could have fallen badly and broken my head or neck.

“That’s what they said when I spoke to my doctors. It could have been my baby, not me. I have an 18-month-old daughter, she could have been in my arms, we could have fallen together. So it’s impossible for me to describe the extent of what could have happened.”

Aygin has filed a complaint at the Yalikavak Police Station and claims that the supermarket did not get permission to construct the warehouse.

She said the most saddening aspect of the incident is that the staff continued to serve customers while she was lying in agony.

She added that the owners are more concerned about making money than their customers’ health.

It is unclear if a police investigation has been launched into the incident.
