This is the moment residents cut a hole into the wall to rescue an adorable moggie trapped inside it.

The incident was filmed in an apartment in the city of Ukhta in the north-western Russian republic of Komi and the footage was later shared on social media where it has been viewed over 36,000 times.

In the footage, two men are seen clearing bricks from the large hole in the hallway wall to get to the trapped cat.

At the end of the clip, the managed to make enough space for the feline to squeeze through before slowly dragging it out.

According to the owner, the cat fell through a hole in the bathroom which is being renovated and the family realised it was trapped when they heard faint meows coming from the other side of the wall.

The family located its position and made a hole in the hall wall before finally plucking it free.

The owner said the cat was shook up by the incident but was otherwise unharmed.

‘Oxana Monro’ commented: “People who save helpless animals are the real heroes because who else would help our furry friends?”
