This is the moment a baby girl is saved as she teeters at the top of some stairs in her walker above a deadly drop.

CCTV footage captured the drama at a store in the city of Wuhan, in Central China’s Hubei Province on 13th March.

In the footage, a woman – not named in local media – is seen walking down a staircase while talking on the phone.

It seems she is completely oblivious to the little girl following her in a pink walker.

As the girl reaches the edge of the stairs, she seems to realise she cannot go any further and calls out for the woman.

Then as she hears the tot’s voice, the woman comes running and sprints up the stairs towards the child.

The child shuffled forward and begins to topple sideways head-first down the stairs.

But with just a split second to spare the woman reaches out and saves the child from falling.

The child’s mother – named Ms Liu in local media – said that she was busy working in the store and did not notice her daughter was gone.

Ms Liu said that she was shocked when she saw the surveillance the next day.

She later posted the footage on Douyin – China’s version of TikTok – saying adults can never be too careful around children.

Douyin user ‘lime’ said in a comment: “Fortunately, the child yelled twice, otherwise she could have fallen down without the woman noticing. You must pay attention to safety with the child.”
