This is the shocking moment a toddler dangles outside an apartment window and is unable to alert family members after crawling through the window bars.

The incident was filmed in the residential district of Lam Tin in the south-eastern Chinese region of Hong Kong on Tuesday.

According to local reports, the nappy-wearing tot climbed through some window bars and was spotted dangling outside by frightened residents on the ground.

According to the tot’s grandmother, whose name was not reported, the incident left her “frightened to death”.

She said that the boy was in bed when she last saw him, adding that he had probably crawled through the grill on the window.

The grandmother and the boy’s mum, also unnamed but who is 36, realised what had happened when neighbours began shouting from the street.

They ran into the bedroom and lifted the youngster to safety without further incident.

According to reports, the police arrived on the scene and gave the mother a warning. She told officers that they will install more protective window bars in the near future.
