This is the moment thieves smash their way into a jewellery shop and quickly stuff trays of loot reportedly worth over 230,000 GBP into two large cases.

The incident took place in the centre of Split, a coastal town on Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast, and the gang reportedly escaped with jewellery items worth 2 million HRK (231,700 GBP).

The unnamed store owner told local media that three “well-prepared” robbers took around seven kilogrammes (15.4 lbs) of jewellery in under two minutes.

He added: “Someone raised the shutter automatically as if they had our remote control. They went in and took everything in a minute and a half.

“I can recognise my jewellery items so I suggest to my fellow jewellers that if you come across someone suspicious, please notify me or the police.

“It should be difficult for them to sell that much gold, maybe in a neighbouring country, but not here.”

According to local media, the jeweller’s stock was uninsured and he has publicly offered a reward for anyone who comes forward with information leading to the thieves’ arrest.

He said: “It is not a problem for us to give a reward. We cannot do much right now because we have a lot of damage to deal with, but if someone can help us, why not?

The Split-Dalmatia County Police Department has confirmed that they are investigating the robbery.
