In the footage, the heavyset robber is seen entering the shop while wearing a helmet before rummaging in his bag and removing what appears to be a shotgun which he slings over his shoulder.

Meanwhile, the two female workers run into a back room when they realise what the man is up to and they sound the alarm.

The robber then removes an axe and starts smashing display cases before stuffing the jewellery items into his bag.

According to local media, the jewellery store is not the only robbery the suspect has been involved in and he was filmed by CCTV cameras carrying out the same method at a shop in the neighbouring state of Perlis.

Similar to the video footage from the shop in Kedah, the suspect reportedly used a firearm to scare workers before smashing open display cases with an axe and fleeing the scene.

The Malaysian police are still trying to track down the suspect.
