Ramos Ruiz said that officers arrested the teenage suspect after a chase and confirmed that he had the woman’s phone on his person as well as a handgun and another smartphone.

He added: “There could be a financial motive as the victim may have a company that someone is interested in. Her phone could have important information needed by whoever hired the teenager. The suspect claims that he does not know who hired him.”

According to the spokesman, the suspect has confessed to the police that he was hired to kill the woman for 1,000 PEN (225 GBP).

No other arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.
