Moment Syrian Teen Shot Dead By Own Relatives For Refusing To Marry Her Cousin

This is the shocking moment a Syrian teen is apparently shot dead by members of her own family for allegedly refusing to marry her cousin.

The incident is reported to have taken place in a rural area of Al Hasakah Governorate in the north-east of Syria on 26th June.

The footage shows around 10 men murdering the female victim, who activists said was between 13 and 16 years old, in the shell of a property using automatic rifles.

The gruesome footage shows how the girl writhes on the floor after being shot before another man shoots her again in the head, apparently ending her life.

A women’s rights group confirmed the veracity of the footage with local security officials after it emerged on Syrian social media on 29th June, outraging netizens.

The victim’s own father, brothers and cousin were allegedly among the perpetrators, and they reportedly fled after committing the sickening crime and are said to still be at large.

According to Syrian newspaper Al Jisr, the victim was aged 20 and was killed by her relatives after they discovered she was in a relationship with a local man who later escaped to Turkey.

However, activists said she was, in fact, at least four years younger than reported, and the motive for her murder was that she had refused to wed her own cousin.

The activists said she attempted to flee, but her relatives caught up with her and murdered her.
