This is the adorable moment a Spanish cop stops in the middle of the street with the sirens blaring to say hello to his family who he has not seen in three weeks amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

The incident was filmed in the town of Gandia in the eastern Spanish region of Valencia when the officer, named Alberto, stopped briefly outside his home to surprise his family.

He decided to stay away from loved ones during the lockdown in case he infects them while on patrol.

According to the Spanish Civil Guard, who posted the video on their Twitter account where it has been viewed nearly 150,000 times, Alberto has not seen his loved ones for three weeks.

In the footage, one of his children, who has not been named, is heard shouting from the window “I love you daddy” as Alberto pulls up in a patrol car with its sirens blaring.

The tot asks his dad if he is the officer driving the patrol car, but Alberto is apparently on his way somewhere and promptly leaves.

The boy shouts: “Don’t leave!”

Netizen ‘Altherior’ said: “Poor kid, it breaks my heart. We often forget about our security forces, but they also have families. I hope that child, and all the other kids whose parents are protecting us, can hug their mums and dads soon.”

According to the latest figures from the Johns Hopkins University Spain has registered 146,690 cases of COVID-19, 14,555 deaths and 48,021 recoveries.
