This is the moment Russian FSB agents detain a suspected Islamic terrorist believed to have been involved in numerous armed attacks and recruitment campaigns who had sneaked into the country as a refugee.

The terror suspect was arrested in the city of Rostov-on-Don in the south-western Russian region of Rostov Oblast. The unnamed man is accused of being involved in numerous armed attacks in Russia and further afield, according to reports.

He was detained in the district of Temernik which is said to be home to many Central Asian citizens.

Local media said the unnamed man is also suspected of recruiting other terror suspects into the network he allegedly runs.

The suspect reportedly comes from Afghanistan and it is currently unclear how he managed to cross the border.

It is believed the man entered Russia after changing his passport and pretending to be a refugee, according to local media.

He then arrived in Rostov-on-Don where he allegedly started to recruit people to join the ranks of terrorist cells based in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The Federal Security Service (FSB, the heir to the KGB of Soviet times) confirmed that two criminal cases have been opened against the suspect, who has been placed in a pre-trial detention centre.

According to local media, another suspect was detained and charged with ‘failure to report a crime’ before being released on bail.
