This is the moment a passing biker who was married with two children is fatally struck by a side panel that falls off a parked fairground ride trailer.
The tragedy took place in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, which is located in Ceara state in north-eastern Brazil, on the afternoon of Saturday, 27th November.
The footage shows the fair ride trailer parked by the side of a street as the biker drives past.
The man on a motorcycle has no chance, however, to manoeuvre out of the way as the side panel drops from the parked trailer, and he hits it without slowing.
The force of the collision, in which the biker strikes the metal plate with his midriff, bends the plate and rips it from the side of the parked trailer, also knocking the biker off his vehicle and leaving him lying in the middle of the road as the footage ends.
The victim has been named as Alan Alves Ernesto, 42, and the family has filed a report with the police. At the time of writing, it was unclear who owned the fair ride trailer.
Lucas Batista, the victim’s nephew, is quoted in local media outlet G1 as saying: “My uncle was coming home from a race. There was someone else in front of him but he swerved, and the plate ended up ‘flying’ and hitting his chest.”
The victim was seen to by paramedics, who took almost an hour to stabilise him, and he was then taken to hospital, but succumbed to his injuries.
The dead man leaves behind a wife and two children.
