This is the moment a monkey commutes on the Delhi Metro and goes to sit next to a passenger to watch the scenery whizz by the window.

The incident was filmed near Yamuna Bank Station on the Delhi Metro Blue Line in India’s National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.

The footage was posted on Twitter and had attracted thousands of views by Sunday afternoon. The clip was then shared on Facebook by the media company ‘So Delhi’ where it has been watched by over 30,000 netizens.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said they are aware of the video and are looking into the incident.

In the footage, stunned commuters watch the monkey as it climbs the handrail and walks through the carriage.

At one point, the monkey appears stressed by the amount of passengers at the other end of the carriage and decides to take a seat next a young man.

The monkey gets comfortable on the seat and rests a hand on the man’s lap.

After a while, the monkey gets to its feet and looks out of the window, apparently wondering where it is and how it can get back to its troop.

It is unclear what happened to the monkey, however a DMRC spokesperson said “no harm was caused to anyone and the monkey was not spotted thereafter in metro premises”.
