This is the moment a massive palm tree snaps in half and falls on top of an unsuspecting woman walking nearby.
The incident took place in Tiberias, a city in north-eastern Israel on the Sea of Galilee.
The victim, who has not been named, but who was 66 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medics.
A responding medic named in Israeli media as Yoel Nagar said: “When we arrived at the Promenade we saw the injured woman lying on the grass verge, trapped under the trunk of a large tree that had fallen onto her.
“We made extensive attempts to revive her and attempted a number of medical procedures, but owing to the extensive nature of her internal injuries we were only then able to determine her death.”
Winds blowing at speeds of up to 70 kph (43 mph) were reported in the city on Sunday (22nd August), when the incident happened, according to local TV channel Channel 12.
The woman had reportedly been walking on the Tiberias Corniche which overlooks Lake Medina shortly before the tree broke in half, with the upper half of the palm tree falling right on top of her and crushing her against the ground.
The police are investigating the incident.
