This is the moment a masked cartel member inside a high-end vehicle leans out of the passenger door to shoot a huge machine gun at rivals during a reported turf war which left nine combatants dead.
The incident was filmed in the municipality of Tepalcatepec in the southern Mexican state of Michoacan during an armed conflict between a group led by Juan Jose Farias, known as ‘El Abuelo’ (‘The Grandfather’), and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), according to local media.
In the video, a masked fighter is seen firing a huge machine gun out of the car window as a colleague says: “In the small house up there. Mate, in the small house.”
It is unclear whether the men are with El Abuelo or the CNJG.
According to the local authorities, nine people were killed and 11 others were injured during the alleged turf war.
Reports said that all of the 11 injured fighters on the scene were CJNG members.
The confrontation started in the morning when a team of CJNG fighters allegedly tried to capture El Abuelo and his gang and a shootout began.
Photographs released by the local authorities show several dead bodies scattered around an abandoned car after the shootout.
The investigation into the bloody gunfight is ongoing.
