This is the moment a man wielding a large sickle tries to decapitate a rival by delivering four strong blows to the back of his head in a restaurant.

The brutal attack took place in the administrative region of Sobradinho, which is located in the Federal District in Brazil, not far from the capital Brasilia, on the evening of Tuesday, 18th January.

The brutal attack caused the victim to lose consciousness and fall to the floor, but he reportedly survived the assault.

As can be seen in the footage, the victim, who has not been named, can be seen sitting at an outside table at a restaurant.

The assailant, who has not been named either, suddenly appears in view and he hits the victim over the head with the sickle.

The victim appears to lose consciousness after the first blow and can be seen limply collapsing in his chair before falling to the floor.

But the assailant does not seem to think that the first blow was enough, and he hits the victim a second time with the weapon.

The victim falls flat on his face on the floor, visibly unconscious. The assailant then takes his time to line up further blows on the prone man.

He brings the sickle down on the back of the man’s neck two more times, and he appears to be gearing up for a fifth blow when he is suddenly hit by a plastic chair that appears to have been thrown by somebody out of frame.

The assailant appears to exchange some words with an unknown third person before wandering away.

The Military Police (Brazil’s preventive police force) of the Federal District said that the victim survived the incident and is currently recovering in hospital.

The suspect, however, remains at large and is believed to have fled the area.

The incident reportedly took place after the two men had a disagreement about a car. There are currently no further details regarding the causes of the incident.

The police are believed to be actively looking for the suspect, and the investigation into the brutal attack is ongoing.
