This is the moment a man staring at his phone while walking falls face first into an open wooden box lying on the floor.

The incident took place in the city of Anshan, which is located in the north-eastern Chinese province of Liaoning, on Saturday 18th December.

The footage shows the man exiting a lift in a building with a friend while looking at his phone. He walks straight into an open wooden box lying on the floor and trips over it, falling headfirst inside.

The footage quickly made the rounds after it was shared on social media.

The man, who has not been named, was not injured in the incident, according to local media, although his friends did not help him back to his feet immediately because they were reportedly too busy laughing.

Local media report that the pair were visiting an unnamed shop in the building and that staff working at the shop had left the empty box out, for reasons unknown.

The make and model of the man’s phone were not known at the time of writing and it is unclear if they were damaged in the fall.
