This is the moment a commuter is beaten and robbed for his phone on the underground in Moscow.

The incident was captured at an unspecified metro station on CCTV and people later shared the video in social media.

The footage shows a crowded metro station with many people walking in and out.

In the clip, a man ready to go downstairs when another man runs into him from behind and wrestles his phone from his hands.

As the victim tried to get his phone back, the robber kicked him several times before chasing him down a nearby escalator and walking off.

According to the reports, the unnamed victim is a 47-year-old man and it remains unclear if he sustained serious injuries.

Two men were detained in connection with the incident and they allegedly told cops that they sold the phone at a local shopping centre.

The two criminals are currently in pre-trial detention.

Police are investigating the case and suspect that the pair may have been involved in similar crimes on other occasions.

Netizen ‘Mikhail Andreev’ wrote: “This is Art161 P.2 of the Russian Criminal Code ‘Robbery’ (gang+violence) – from 5 to 7 years imprisonment.”
