At moments, the storm appears so strong that the street view disappears under the fog caused by the heavy rain.

The storm ripped through the southern Brazilian state of Parana on Tuesday afternoon, 25th January, and left a trail of destruction in its wake.

Winds in the region reached speeds of 80 kph (50 mph), according to the Parana Meteorology System (Simepar).

The storm toppled trees, damaged roofs and smashed windows and glass storefronts. Debris was also strewn across the roads, causing havoc for motorists.

Civil Defence workers and firemen were dispatched to nine addresses in the neighbouring city of Cascavel to attend to incidents involving flooding and damaged roofs.
