This is the moment a mother who suspected her husband may have been mistreating their baby manages to film him with a hidden camera brutally beating their baby when it refused to go to sleep.
The baby’s mother, named as Semra Goc, said she was always suspicious when the two-month-old baby, who is named Cihan Goc, would cry when it was with its father.
She said that her husband Yunusg Goc would always claim that she was the one that upset the child whenever she noticed it crying, usually when it was with him at their home in the district of Sahinbey in the Turkish province of Gaziantep.
Semra said: “The baby was crying all the time while in my husband’s arms. But he always wanted to blame me, he was saying things to the baby such as ‘Poor baby, did your mother beat you up?’
“I suspected my husband because the baby started crying every time I left the room, and one day I looked through the keyhole.”
She said that she didn’t believe her eyes when she saw him hit the baby but was too terrified to confront him in case he did something terrible to both of them, and she turned to her mother for help.
She added: “I asked her to give me a phone with a camera. I hid the phone in a closet and started recording.
“I heard the baby’s cry. I waited in front of the room for a while, and then I went inside. I didn’t say anything to him so he wouldn’t suspect anything.
“Otherwise, much worse things could have happened. He would always tell me that he would kill me and take the baby. So I took the baby and left the room as if nothing had happened.”
In the footage, the father first tries to put the baby to sleep before putting it on the floor.
After it begins to cry, the man takes the baby in his arms and starts pummelling it mercilessly.
After a while, the mother, Semra, enters the room, takes the baby in her arms and leaves the room, trying to calm the baby down.
When she had collected the camera, she handed it to the police when she saw what was on it, and they immediately launched an investigation.
The baby, who was first taken to Sahinbey Training and Research Hospital, was transferred to a private hospital after a first intervention.
Gaziantep Governor’s Office issued a statement on the incident and said that the suspect was arrested and taken into custody, and a case has been opened against him.
Semra has reportedly left the home and taken shelter in her family’s house while the baby, who was reported to have had a brain haemorrhage, survived the violent attack, which apparently happened on 29th November.
The age of the couple and the gender of the baby was not reported.
